Philip Lord Photography

Morecambe based photographer Phil is the man behind the lens at Philip Lord Photography. We have to give big love and a huge shout out to Phil for being one of our first suppliers on the site at CaptureOurWedding.com! He works with his trusty assistant and wife Cathy and his work is utterly beautiful! He has a real knack for capturing those candid shots of couples showing the pure emotion of the day.

Phil specialises in modern documentary wedding photography and likes to focus on classic images, such as the happy couple and groups of friends and family, that will still appear fresh and timeless in years to come, we asked Phil how he first got into photography;

“I first got in to photography at the age of 13 after my father, who was a keen photographer himself, bought me my first camera, a Zenith E with 50mm lens. Many hours were spent in the darkroom we had made in the attic… No computers in those days !  Shortly after I joined the local camera club and won many awards and had my work exhibited nationally.”

And how would you describe your style of photography?

“I am a documentary style wedding photographer. This means, I like to capture the day naturally, although I will do some posed shots such as cutting the cake and any group pictures requested by the bride and groom.”

What do you enjoy most about photographing a wedding?

“The thing I enjoy about capturing a couples big day is that I know that I am creating memories for the couple and their families that will last forever, pictures that they can show their children and grandchildren ….and so on …and so on….”

If you were to give a couple a bit of advice when it comes to finding their perfect capture what would it be?

“The advice I would give to a couple when looking for their perfect wedding capture is to ask the photographer to show them a complete wedding he or she has recently covered, not just the best shots which appear on the photographers website. I would also advise them to take advantage of any offer of an engagement photo shoot offered by the photographer. This is a great way for the photographer and couple to get to know each other and to see if we get along!”

And how to you get couples to relax in front of the camera?

“I help my couples relax and feel at ease by my own calm and relaxed manner of working.”

Outside of your photography work what do you like to do for fun?

“Outside of photography I like to do DIY around the house and enjoy walking in the beautiful Lake District which is just half an hours drive from where I live.”

Phil’s unobtrusive approach to wedding photography show’s your magical moments as they naturally unfold so that you can look back on all of those special fleeting moments. His work really does speak for itself and he is meticulous about details so that your images turn out perfectly after your big day. We asked Phil a few more ‘just for fun’ questions and started with asking him to describe himself in three words;

“Patient, quiet mannered & thoughtful.”

If you could be any fictional character who would it be?

“James Bond!”

Favourite band?

“The Beatles”

And lastly, if you were stranded on a desert island what three things would you want to have along with you?

“My wife, my camera and the cat :)”

Sounds like Phil would have a great time on his desert island, what with his Bond Girl Cathy and sidekick cat! Philip Lord Photography offers some stunning work in the Lancashire area, so if you're looking for gorgeous documentary and portraiture style photography check out his profile now!
