Considering An Engagement Shoot?

Are you considering an engagement shoot before your big day?

Engagements shoots are a great way of capturing the love for one another and reflecting your relationship and personalities before you tie the knot and personally, i think this is a wonderful idea for couples to consider. Engagements shoots are becoming increasingly popular with couples as they often choose to have this a few weeks prior to their wedding day. Not only can you have some posed and candid shots of you both together in your chosen location, this will give you the chance to have a taster into what to expect on your wedding day in regards to having your photos taken, being more relaxed and comfortable infront of the camera and getting to know and meet your photographer earlier than expected.

Some couples like to arrange their engagement shoot on the same day as the brides hair and make up trial for them to get a feel of how there hair and make up will look on the big day, this will give the bride the option to switch up their hair style or make any alterations as necessary with their hairdresser or make up artist.

I appreciate that some couples may be camera shy and may feel slightly awkward if being posed by your photographer, but always remember that your photographer is there to make you feel comfortable and to create those beautiful memories of you both. If you are feeling slightly anxious, be sure to tell your photographer, there is no doubt that they will help you as a couple come out of your shell and make you feel relaxed especially before the big day. Consider playing music in the background on your engagement shoot if this makes you feel more at ease, as long as you can hear your photographer, i'm sure they would not mind.

Depending on the choice of location, you would need to discuss this with your wedding photographer, you may have a local country park that has plenty of scenery or a chosen town which has beautiful backdrops or even a favourite or sentimental place that you and your partner love to visit.

The beauty of engagement shoots also is that you can dress as casually or as fancy as you wish, just be mindful of the weather on the day, be sure to bring along a jacket/coat just incase. Even if it does rain, bring along an umbrella to get a cuddled up shot of you both under the umbrella. As long as you both feel comfortable on the day, thats all that truly matters. Some couples even bring along their furry best friends with them to get involved. The cutest pictures that you can cherish right before your big day in addition to your wedding day photographs, creating the most wonderful photo album that oozes love, laughter and celebration or even just for your own personal memory.

If you would prefer to have specific photos taken at your engagament shoot, be sure to talk to your photographer regarding this. Whether this is recreating a past photograph within the same location or if you wish to go all out and get props involved! The choice is YOURS. When you recieve your photos back from the photographer, be sure to point out any specific shots that you prefer, wish to add into your wedding day shoot or even a photo style that you do not like. Many couples like to incorporate there engagement shoot photos into wedding invites, thank you cards or even stickers to place on wedding favours, just as a few ideas.

When the engagement shoot is done, why not consider spending the rest of the day with your other half, go for dinner, go for a walk, enjoy each others company and make that whole day about you two.
