Speech & Toast Ideas
The idea of getting up infront of a crowd full of people watching you can seem daunting and nerve-wrecking however speeches don't have to be scary, make them funny, be creative and maybe throw in a few funny stories guaranteed to get your guests laughing!
The traditional order of wedding speeches is as follows: father of the bride, groom, best man and then possibly 2 other speeches/toasts. However, in recent years, couples have been moving away from tradition and following a more relaxed approach to their wedding speeches which may include slideshow photos or even outfit changes!
I'm going to give you a few examples of what you could include in your toast/speeches:
1. Tell your the guests how you remember the day/night the newly weds met2. Look for funny things about the groom or bride- (remember to be respectful as family members are there)
3. Reinact how the couples reacted to being introduced to each others parents4. Describe common activities between the newly weds5. Describe in a few words how you would describe the bride/groom6. Describe the morning of the wedding in your own words7. Consider ice breaking games including all your guests8. Describe how you first met the bride/groom in your own story9. Give well wishes to the newly weds by getting everyone to raise a glass If you are struggling for ideas, why not consider getting a template online for wedding speeches and create your own using the structure. Websites like Hitched, BrideBook & The Natural Wedding Company are great websites to consider!
I believe the worse mistake that you could make if you are giving a wedding speech is to
NOT leave it the night before. This will increase your anxiety and you will feel rushed. The best way is to start as soon as possible and consider rehearsing your speech at home to try and feel as relaxed as possible when the moment comes. Relax, stay calm and give it all you've got..
