What we're all about

Hi, I'm Nick. I'm originally from Liverpool but now currently based in Lincoln where I live with my partner and 2 beautiful little girls.

Unlike other photographers I don’t want to harp on about the usual ‘how much I love' this and ‘my passion' is that, I believe my photography speaks for itself about how much I love what I do. Whatever wedding i have been hired to photograph, I strive to acheive excellence.

My first serious interests in photography were photographing landscapes and architecture. I have had several images displayed in galleries in London as part of the London Photography Festival and recently I have also had several of my images published in a Worldwide Photography magazine.

Im a self taught photographer of nearly 10 years and my interest in photographing people began when I attended courses ran by some of the UK’s top wedding and portrait photographers including Brett Harkness, Karl Bratby and Damien Lovegrove.

I like to photograph a mix of documentary and modern contemporary images with a few group shots of the day and not forgetting the wow images during sunsets. I use a mix of natural light and flash photography to capture all the little things that you will be too busy to notice and I try to work as discreetly as possible to ensure you and your guests feel relaxed and comfortable in my company.

I believe my wedding photography is unique, creative and timeless and I will work with you to find the most interesting approach to producing images and a wedding album you will be proud to look back on in years to come.

What Our Couples Say

Julie Jones

We got married on 22nd september 2017 and Nick was amazing. From the original enquiry of availability to the day itself he's been helpful, kind and relaxing to talk with.
I happened across Nick's website and was really impressed with his portfolio, his images were exactly what i was looking for. I just wanted mostly candid shots with the occasional posed shots. The ones i could see were very well edited, and it looked like he had managed to capture the key elements of the day perfectly. I knew i wanted him as my photographer.
I contacted him and within a few weeks (had to wait to book the registrar) we were all booked and ready to go after a very simple online contract signing etc.
We went through which group shots i would like and also looked around the venue together the month before the wedding so that he could plan the shots he wanted to take.
The wedding day itself, Nick came to do the shots of the bridal party getting ready while a 2nd photographer went to do the groom shots. It didn't even feel like Nick was in the room most of the time- there was some chit chat here and there but he made sure he didnt miss any details in the room. The bridesmaids were a bit nervous since none of them were familiar with having their photos taken, but they all said that it wasn't as bad as they were worried it would be.
Nick did a great job of capturing all the details and decorations in the reception room before the ceremony. he didnt miss a thing. After we had eaten he took the bridal party through the centre of town to take some photos near the water features- this was enjoyable for all of us because we all had fun and we got some great shots.
The photographers stayed then through the cutting of the cake, the boquet toss and first dance. They then stayed for another 20-30 minutes or so to get some picture of people dancing and then that was it- off they went.
We had our preview shots within a few days and had all of our images ready to download easily from his website within 2 weeks.
I can't fault Nick at all, i would recommend him to anyone i know, not only were all of my photos beautiful but i feel that he was definitely worth the money.
Thankyou Nick for being part of our day.
It was a pleasure being photographed by you.

Nick has been an amazing addition to our big day.
From when we started our photographer search Nick was very quick to send samples of his work and photographic style. He sent us a link to his portfolio and after appointing him he kept us up to date with his progress so we could comment on any types of shots we would like for our wedding.
The process with Nick was very easy as well - from the legal documentation to the forms and tips of how to get the best shots throughout the day, Nick was super helpful and always on the ball.
The day itself Nick was a real professional. He had already done a recce of the church and venue so everything was super smooth throughout the day. Nick had sourced a secondary photographer who was fully briefed as well, and between Nick and his assistant either working alone, with the videographer, or all of them together, we had an excellent day that was captured with a creative eye.
Post-wedding, Nick was very quick to get us across some teaser images and follow up with the full collection shortly after. He addressed our feedback quickly, and would follow up shortly after.
What was great about Nick throughout the process was his professionalism at all times - he was always quick to respond and transparent at all times. His photo sharing platform is premium and easy to use. We like Nick's style because he is great at capturing the moment naturally - a lot of wedding photographers add heavy filters and lighting effects to their work in post, and these are things that will "go out of fashion" when you look back at your photos in the years to come. With Nick you're getting your images as they appear, but of course optimised to bring out colours and highlight the main features of your shots.
On top of it all, Nick is a fun, friendly guy and got on with all the guests during the day, and has a great ability to get people organised and doing what he wants in a very short period of time! We'd happily recommend him to anyone.
Thanks so much Nick for making our day so special, and capturing the moment for us to remember forever.

FAQ

WHAT IS YOUR STYLE?

I like to shoot mostly natural images capturing your day as it happens and also a few wow images towards the evening. I shoot a mix of documentary & fine art photography with a few group images of the day if required, using a mix of natural light and flash photography to capture all the little things that you will be too busy to notice. I try to work as discreetly as possible making you and your guests feel relaxed and comfortable in my company.

WHAT IS DOCUMENTARY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY?

Ultimately it is about creating a beautiful, elegant and completely timeless set of emotive images that fully tell the story of your wedding day. Done properly a skilled documentary wedding photographer will create a treasured family heirloom that will be looked at time and time again throughout the years and will take you back to the day with utter clarity and real emotional impact.

It’s a focus on storytelling, on creating a faithful documentary record of the most important day of your life. The most skilled documentary wedding photographers will even find and capture moments and stories that you didn’t see on the day and tell a story that you may have been too focused to see unfolding around you

HOW MANY HOURS ARE INCLUDED?

I believe that your wedding day should be a day to remember, and when I say that, I mean the entire day. I aim to arrive as early as possible and follow the whole of the preparations if required, the ceremony, formal portraits, the reception as well as the all important party afterwards. I rarely shoot less than 10 hours though most coverage tends to last 12 hours or more.

If you would rather choose a half day package you will recieve at least 6-7 hours of photography, usually from the ceremony and up to the cutting of the cake.

DO YOU COVER GROUP PHOTOGRAPHS?

Friends & family are just as much a part of the day as the couple. Group shots can be discussed at time of booking or at the pre-wedding consultation, although I aim to keep these to a minimum of 10-15 minutes.

WHAT ABOUT BRIDE AND GROOM PHOTOGRAPHS?

There is little point in you investing lots of money in wedding photography if there isn’t enough time for me to take fabulous, creative photographs of just the two of you. Ideally 20-30 minutes is a good starting point for your couple shots, though if you have the luxury of more time, that’s a bonus! These pictures are more creative and take time therefore it’s wise to consult with me about how long to allow.

Also, it’s often nice to take some time out during the day to have intimate pictures of just you and your partner as newlyweds, away from the hustle and bustle of it all. This gives you time to breathe and spend a bit of time together while settling yourselves before going back to all of your family and friends.

CAN YOU PHOTOGRAPH THE CEREMONY?

This really depends upon the permission of those officiating the event and this varies widely. From experience I find it depends on individual Registrars and Vicars, some are happy to let me photograph the service from the front so I can capture the service of you both close up or I may have to go to the back and capture the service from a distance. It’s always best to check with who is officiating your event and express that this is an important part of your day and you want your photographer to be in the best position.

DO YOU ALLOW OTHER PEOPLE TO TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS WHILE YOU ARE WORKING?

For the most part, there is no problem with friends and relatives taking photographs while I’m working but as a wedding photographer one of the most nerve-wracking events is when a guest completely destroys the picture either by standing up in the middle of the isle during the first kiss or even taking photos with ipads & phones whilst holding them up in front of the photographer or even their own face stopping the photographer capturing the reactions on your guests faces. If you want your photographer to capture the wedding as perfectly as possible without the possibility of missing key images due to obtrusive guest photographers then why not ask your guests to turn their phones, ipads, cameras and other digital distractions off, especially during the ceremony and first dance and instead enjoy your wedding with thier own eyes and not via an LCD screen.

There will be plenty of opportunities for your guests to take photographs throughout the day. All that I ask is that any friends or relatives respect the fact that you have hired me to photograph your big day.

HOW WILL I VIEW MY IMAGES AFTER MY WEDDING & HOW LONG AFTER?

After your wedding all your final images will have been individually colour graded and edited and not some random preset filter applied to the whole set images. The images will be available 4-5 weeks after your wedding if not sooner. Firstly you will be able to view your images in an online and private password protected gallery. From this gallery you can download your images, share the whole album or individual images on social media, email to friends and family, buy prints and you can pick your favourite images to start making your choice for your album which I am also available to help with.

If you would prefer to have your images via a personalised USB stick in a presentation box then please let me know (£30 charge per stick).

WHY DO WE HAVE TO WAIT SEVERAL WEEKS FOR OUR IMAGES?

Each and every individual image will be colour corrected, edited and possibly re-touched if desired. I do not use any 'off the shelf' presets like other photographers, who claim they can get your images back to you within 48 hrs. This process can take a while especially if you will be finally receiving over 500 - 600 images. I use Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop to manually process each image to their best potential.

WHO OWNS THE COPYRIGHT OF THE PHOTOGRAPHS?

Under UK law, specifically the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, it is the photographer who will own copyright on any photos he/she has taken. However that doesn’t mean that I will use the images without your consent. Client confidentiality is absolutely crucial to my business and should you wish to keep your wedding photographs private and have a non-disclosure agreement in place, then naturally i will be more than happy to accommodate.

ARE YOU INSURED?

Yes I have have both Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance provided by HISCOX Insurance.

DO WE HAVE TO PROVIDE YOU WITH A MEAL?

A meal provided on the day would be much appreciated but I am also able to bring my own food if required.

HOW FAR WILL YOU TRAVEL?

Although im a wedding photographer based in Lincoln I am prepared to travel throughout the U.K and im also available to photograph destination weddings abroad. If I need to travel more than 100 miles drive from Lincoln i would ask if you could cover some form of accommodation to make sure I can be with you early on the big day avoiding any problems due to traveling. The last thing you want is for me turning up late after being stuck in traffic. For destination weddings, flights and hotels will also be required to be covered.
