How to Stay on Time on Your Wedding Day

A wedding day is one of the most important and memorable days of your life, but it can also be one of the most stressful and hectic times for the couples. From planning, preparation and all things wedding related, it can be easy to lose track of time and end up running late for your ceremony, reception, or photos. It's important to stay on time to ensure your wedding day flows smoothly.

Its important to reminder that people who are joining you on the day i.e wedding photographers will only have a specific time to stay till as they more than likley will have travelled to your location and may have a wedding the next day. Photographers have a right to leave when they have discussed with the newlyweds and this will be within their contract also. Therefore if photographers are asked to stay, if they are able to, the chances are that the couple will be charged extra so try to make sure you are doing everything that you can to stay on time as much as possible.

Here are a few ideas which you can incorporate into your wedding day to ensure the day runs smoothly:

1. Create a realistic timeline- Ideally, it is best to create a realistic timeline for your wedding day so you can see how long between each part of the day you have. Taking in account the time needed for getting ready, arriving at your venue, setting up, if you are meeting your photographer early etc. The most crutial part is to allow extra time for any unexpected delays. If you do decide to have a wedding planner/coordinator, be sure to create a timeline with them so that they can advise how much time you can realistically have.

2. Communicate with guests & vendors-Once you have your timeline in place, be sure to share this information with your vendors and guests to allow the day to run smoothly without any hiccups. The vendors and wedding coordinator should have a copy of the timeline to schedule and confirm responsibilities, placements and arrival times. A top tip would be to delegate tasks to a chief bridemaid/groomsman to ensure everything is running smoothly in the background without giving you stress and feeling overwhelmed on the day. Your job is to remain as calm as possible, besides you're getting married!

3. Hire a professional photographer and videographer- By hiring a professional photographer and videographer who have experience in shooting weddings, this will give you the clarity that they know exactly what they are doing and can work efficiently and creatively within a timeframe. A list of photos that you require on the day (groupshots) should be arranged with your photographer prior to the wedding day so that they can arrange when to take photos throughout the day with the couple. This will help them capture everything you want without wasting time or missing anything.

4. Pack an emergency kit-Seems a bit extra i know, however you will be surprised that unexpected mishaps may happen on the day and you make require little things like safety pins, scissors, stain remover or even painkillers. Get one of your groomsmen/bridesmaid to keep an emergency kit in their car, something so simple can save you time and stress in case something goes wrong.

5. Enjoy the moment- The most important tip on your wedding day is to enjoy the moment. Don’t let the clock or the schedule ruin your mood or distract you from celebrating your love and happiness if something does get delayed that is out of your control. Remember that your wedding day is not about perfection, but about having fun and making memories with your partner and your loved ones. If something does go wrong or does not stay on the timeline, don't worry, stay calm, go with the flow and everything will work out..
