Wedding Trends 2023

Wedding trends come and go and it has been quite refreshing to see the wedding trends from previous years that include over the top accessories and decorations to now switching to the most simpliest , eco friendly, minimialist of ideas for weddings. Less is more is the way to go!

Here are a few wedding ideas that have been trending into the year 2023 and i have no doubt that this is only the beginning. .

1. Minimal dress designs- This is becoming increasingly popular to have a simple, elegant dress that does not have over the top detail like you may have seen over the years. The bigger the dress, the more you stood out amongst the rest of your guests, often paired with multiple accessories to give an overbearing amount of detail to your whole look, which sometimes can be hard to appreciate the wedding dress alone. Simple, minimal wedding dresses without the underskirt have become a popular wedding trend/look. Stylish and elegant, whats not to love?

2. Minimal accessories-The classic shot of the bride putting in her earrings always looks so elegant. A simple studded pair of earrings is a very subtle accessory to consider on your wedding day. Your overall look is simply down to you and your preferences. Want to mix it up? Consider adding a splash of colour to your wedding accessories to really stand out or you can pair it with your colour or theme to your wedding. The choise is YOURS.

3. Smaller bouquet- The use of having a minimal bouquet is another trend that i am obsessed with! The smaller the bouquet, the more reason to show off your chosen wedding day outfits. Big bouquets can often get in the way with couple shots as it can take away the detailing of the dress if the bouquet is not held in the correct position. When holding your bouquet remember to hold them 'at pube height, not boob height'. Cheeky statement i know but it works!

4. Personalised hair styles- The classic 'up do' of a wedding has slowly become less popular at weddings. Instead, wedding couples are opting for a hairstyle that represents them and their personality. Whether this is a simple case of a classic beach wave, straight hair or a slick back ponytail. These simple but elegant hairstyles have been popular amongst celebrities also, like recently married Sophia Richie. Sophia opted for a slick back ponytail with minimal accessories and i think that she looked stunning, sophicated and very vogue! This also gives your guests and fiancee chance to admire your wedding day attire in all its glory.

5. Re-useable decor-Why not consider using reuseable decor for your wedding? This can be a reduction in your wedding budget if you either consider buying second hand decor or even consider renting out decor for the day. Most decorations can be found second hand online using sites like Etsy, Amazon and even places like Facebook marketplace. Grab yourself a bargain with a fraction of the price and you can be even eco friendly by selling them back on for other couples to use. Sustainable weddings will make an even bigger appearance going forward!

6. Cocktail towers- This has become a popular trend going forward with weddings. The use of cocktail towers has been incorporated into wedding days capturing a gorgeous shot of the happy couple pouring bubbles into the tower. This not only gives off gatsby vibes but it also gives your guests a glass of bubbles to toast with afterwards!

7. Pearl details- The use of pearl detailing that can be incorpated into your dress, shoes or even a handbag, is a popular trend within 2023. The subtle but elegant touch of pearl detailing can give off a stylish but classic embellishment to your wedding attire. Very fancy!

8. Alternative bridesmaids dresses-The idea of having uniform bridemaids dresses may be a thing of the past in years to come. The idea of incorporating a theme or colour into a bridesmaid dress rather than having the same dress for all your bridesmaids is a great way of not only making your bridesmaid feel more comfortable in their chosen attire but goes against the traditional look of everything being uniform. Mix it up, be creative with your bridemaids and have fun!

9.Black tie weddings-This is becoming such a popular trend. Many celebrity weddings have incorporated the idea of black tie into their wedding days and i am obsessed! I think the idea of your guests being dressed in black not only gives your guests less pressure to find the perfect wedding guest outfit but this gives the brides chosen attire even more reason to POP amongst the wedding photos of the day. Black is also a slimming colour and will guarantee to make all your guests look smart without even trying!

10. Minimal wedding cakes- This has become another popular trend in 2023. Switching up your wedding cake to a 2 tiered or even single tiered cake to give a minimal approach can save you money, reduce the amount of waste whilst also still standing out on your table. In some instances, couples have opted for cheese boards, pork pie cakes or even fruit cakes! A way for your guests to enjoy a snack throughout the day without the horror of someone ruining an expensive wedding cake that may or may not get eaten completely!

This is only a short list of ideas regarding wedding trends, there are plenty more out there and i'm sure that more shall be added over the rest of the year. Trends come and go, but i am loving the minimalist approach to weddings. I feel like this makes the day more intimate between the couple rather than making sure everything involved in the wedding is too over the top and dramatic.

Your wedding day is about you and your partner and the love between each other, welcoming yourselves into the families, celebrating with your closest friends and family- enjoy whats important rather than splashing the cash on aesthetics is my personal opinion.
