Wedding Trends 2024
Article Published 14/07/2023
Weddings are a day full of love, laughter and celebration with the newlywed couple. New trends come and go over the years, but i'm excited to see what predictions are out there and will surface in the year 2024. We often see brides who are choosing the more minimalist approach to weddings, whether this is minimal wedding accessories, less weighted wedding dresses, minimal bouquets, it seems comfort wins rather than being over the top, dripping with diamonds!
Here are a few wedding ideas that have been predicted to trend into the year 2024..
Sustainable Weddings- The idea of having a sustainable or 'green' wedding is now more than ever becoming a popular wedding choice that couples are opting for to be more consciously aware of the envirornment. From using sustainable and ethical clothing choices for their wedding attire to DIY eco-friendly wedding favours, biogradable confetti and balloons to selecting local organically sourced food, this trend i believe will skyrocket over the years as people become more consciously aware of reducing their carbon footprint and the effects it has on the environment.
Entertainment-In addition to traditional wedding activities such as dancing and photo booths, couples are looking for even better ways of keeping their guests entertained throughout the day. The idea of a wedding singer, live band, lawn games, outdoor film nights, or hiring magicians/singing waiters for the day are a few predictions of how entertainement may look at weddings in the upcoming year. It all sounds super fun, but do remember, if you have a wedding budget, stay within it if any of these options are simply not feasible, the love and laughter amoungst friends and family will always guide the night regardless, all you need is love!
Food Trucks- The idea of having food trucks at weddings is again another trend that i have seen amongst weddings. This gives guests, who may be feeling slightly peckish throughout the evening, the chance to indulge on a late night snack on the wedding day. Food trucks can be used for the cocktail hour, dinner, dessert or late-night snacks. It is recommended to only use food trucks before or after dinner entertainment to make sure that no food goes to waste and the idea in itself is not a waste on the couples behalf!
Re-useable/Secondhand Decor-This can be a reduction in your wedding budget if you either consider buying second hand decor or even consider renting out decor for the day. Most decorations can be found second hand online using sites like Etsy, Amazon and even places like Facebook marketplace. Grab yourself a bargain with a fraction of the price and you can be even eco friendly by selling them back on for other couples to use.
Black Tie Weddings-This is personally my favourite wedding trend that i have seen, even celebrities have incorporated the black tie theme into their wedding days. I think the idea of your guests being dressed in black not only gives your guests less pressure to find the perfect wedding guest outfit but this gives the brides chosen attire even more reason to POP amongst the wedding photos of the day. Black is also a slimming colour and will guarantee to make all your guests look smart without even trying! I personally think that this should be the guest attire for ALL weddings, no more guests wearing white and causing uproar on the day and on social media. . no-one's safe! LOL
Bridal Boxes- Bridal boxes have been trending over the year 2023 and i believe will continue over the upcoming years. A bridal box is simply a box full of treats for the bride before the big day. Whether this is full of bridal accessories for the bride to wear on her hen do or on the day including items like bridal hats, bridal studded denim jackets, bridal clutch bags, t-shirts, smellies to travel mugs, bridal boxes can made by yourself to give to the bride or some websites offer monthly bridal box subsciptions- a treat for the bride each month before the wedding, the idea is to reminder the bride how much she is loved, can be used to help plan their wedding, celebrate their engagement or relieve some pre-wedding stress!
Wedding Content Creators- I believe the idea of hiring a wedding content creator for your big day will make a big appearance over the next couple of years. For couples who wish to have social content on the day can opt to hire a wedding content creator to capture the day and have it displayed almost instantly via social media or for the couples personal use on the day. Personally, if you are having a wedding photographer/videographer, they will capture the day in all its glory anyway, however if you want to splash out and have the funds within your wedding budget and are keen for social content on the day, go for it!
Unplugged Ceremonies- I love the idea of unplugged ceremonies! This is where guests are asked to kindly put away their phones, switch them off and be present in the moment. Taking photographs of the Bride & Groom can be taken later on in the evening at the reception. Unplugged ceremonies will stop the risk of guests getting in the way of the wedding photographers & videographers, this will also stop photographs of guests being taken with their phones in there hand, which i think takes away the beauty of being present in the moment and besides. . it doesn't make the greatest photograph! Registars are now vocalising the use of phones within the ceremony before it starts, they kindly ask to 'not post or take photos of the newlyweds and upload them onto social media until the Bride & Groom have done so first. This is usually a request made by the Bride & Groom for that particular reason of stopping guests from being on their phones throughout the ceremony and posting photos online without the couples consent first.
This is only a short list of ideas regarding predicted wedding trends into the year 2024, there are plenty more out there and i'm sure that more shall be added over the rest of the year. Trends come and go, but each year i am loving seeing what new trends are out there.
Always remember, your wedding day is about you and your partner and the love between each other, welcoming yourselves into the families, celebrating with your closest friends and family- other aesthetically pleasing visuals/elements throughout the day are simply a bonus on top of what will be an amazing wedding day regardless.
