Bridesmaid Trends 2024

As part of wedding planning, there are plenty of decisions to make including what colour or style of dress you would want your bridesmaids to have, if you decide to have bridesmaids on your big day that is. As many trends disappear, new trends appear and i love seeing what trends may surface over the upcoming years.
Traditionally, bridesmaids are seen wearing the same dress/outfit as each other however over the last couple of years, we have seen bridesmaids dresses alter slightly by often having the same colour of dress however they may be worn within a different style, i.e one bridesmaid may wear the dress with straps over one shoulder whilst another bridesmaid in the same dress may have the dress with straps crossed across the chest etc. This is a way of still keeping the same dress however wearing it slightly different to give the illusion that the dresses may appear different. .
Another recent trend over the years, is where bridesmaids simply have mix and match shades of a particular colour, which may be the newlyweds chosen wedding theme/colour. I love this approach as i believe it creates more choice for your bridesmaids to feel more comfortable in their chosen dress and they get to choose the dresses themselves, whilst i'm sure the bride will still have a look into their choices to make sure the dresses fit within the theme.
One particular style of dress that i think looks stunning is the silky satin slip dresses for bridesmaids which has become increasingly popular over the last year. This elegant, sleek looking dress is perfect for bridesmaids and can also comes in multiple styles and different shades of the same colour. They are relatively cost effective as places like Asos, Zara & many other popular online brands will stock these kind of dresses, not only that, repurposing the dresses after to wear the different occasions is also another bonus, these dress looks stunning for any formal event thereafter, get your moneys worth out the dress i say!
Another trend that is starting to surface for bridesmaids is jumpsuits. Many of these jumpsuits that are available to buy online come in different colours and styles whilst still looking elegant and stylish. This particular style works well for a variety of different events (not only weddings) which means that the jumpsuit can be re worn again by your bridesmaids. Whether you want to maintain a traditional wedding vibe or go for a bold fashion statement, there are chic bridesmaid jumpsuits out there to suit your wedding colour theme or style.
The final trend which is possibly my favourite, is black bridesmaids dresses. While the colour black may not be everyones cup of tea to a wedding, contrasting the white bridal look with black bridesmaid dresses creates a modern and stylish look. This look could also be tied into your evening reception guest attire also. I think the idea of your guests and bridesmaids being dressed in black gives the brides chosen colour of dress even more reason to POP amongst the wedding photos of the day. Black is also a slimming colour and will guarantee to make all your guests look smart without even trying!
Over the years, bridesmaids dresses colours have been chosen due to the season in which the wedding falls. Colours like dusty pink, light sage and dusty blue have all been popular bridesmaids colours for summer weddings whereas some brides have chosen winter wedding colours for their bridesmaids which may include the colours slate blue, ivory, chocolate, black, dark green, dusty orange, plum, or steel grey.
I believe in the next year or so, bridesmaids dresses will be even more revamped by using different style of fabrics, brighter and bolder colours whilst also being tailored to the bridesmaids comfort and choice of style should the bride let you have free rein of your bridesmaids dresses. I believe style over symmetry will make a huge impact in weddings within the next couple of years.
